Indian Materia Medica / Kasa Chikitsa – Cough and Respiratory Disorders
🩸 INGREDIENTS
(1) Tulasi (Ocimum sanctum) – 1 part
(2) Vasa (Adhatoda vasica) – 1 part
(3) Pippali (Piper longum) – 1 part
(4) Mulethi (Glycyrrhiza glabra) – 1 part
(5) Ginger (Zingiber officinale) – 1 part
(6) Honey / Sugar – Q.S. for taste and consistency
(7) Water / Decoction base – Q.S.
🩸 METHOD OF PREPARATION
1️⃣ Prepare decoction of all herbal ingredients in water.
2️⃣ Filter and reduce the decoction to obtain concentrated extract.
3️⃣ Add honey or sugar to the decoction and mix thoroughly.
4️⃣ Bottle in sterilized containers and store in a cool, dry place.
🩸 CHARACTERISTICS
• Dark brown syrup with aromatic herbal odour.
• Tikta-Kashaya-Rasa predominance, Ushna Virya.
• Kaphahara, Shwasahara, and Kasa-Shamana in action.
🩸 MODE OF USE
5–10 ml two to three times daily, preferably after meals.
🩸 INDICATIONS
(1) Kasa (Cough – Dry or Productive)
(2) Shwas (Dyspnea / Asthma)
(3) Kaala Shwasa (Chronic Bronchitis)
(4) Grishma-Kapha aggravation cough
(5) Sannipata Jwara with respiratory symptoms
